We are commanded in Matthew 22 to “love your neighbor as yourself,” a directive that speaks to WSCA’s vision to “prepare students to impact the world for Christ.” We want to fill students’ minds with knowledge, AND we want to stir their hearts to serve Jesus in every capacity of their lives.
Students have opportunities for service from the earliest grades through their senior year.
At the elementary level, students participate in service opportunities such as Operation Christmas Child and Baby Bottle Blast, a fundraiser for the Capital Area Pregnancy Center. Second graders make monthly visits to a local retirement community.
Middle and high school students participate in a Day of Service each spring, fanning out into the greater Harrisburg area to partner with local organizations and churches. Students also have service options during Winterim each January. WSCA’s choir and orchestra have performed at diverse venues such as the Pennsylvania State Capitol, HersheyPark Candylane, and local nursing homes.
