National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. Students in grades 10, 11 and 12 are eligible for induction into National Honor Society. The committee bases its selection on excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
The HCS Student Council plans school events such as prom and spirit week. They also assist administration with events for the local community such as donation collections. Student council members, led by Mrs. Pam McDeavitt bring ideas, requests, and feedback to each meeting and a democratic process is used to give students a voice and make decisions in creating a year-long calendar of events and activities. All are welcome to attend and leadership is elected by the student body and the council.
