It is my pleasure to be writing this letter to you as the Elementary Principal for Harrisburg Christian School. I feel truly blessed to be serving such an incredible school and working within a community of Christian educators, learners and families. It is my goal to help each child reach his or her potential and advance the achievement of all our students through providing an exceptional Christian-Centered Education.
I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University, my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies for my Principal Certification from New England College. I have taught various grades at the elementary level and served as the Dean of Students at my previous school.
My family and I moved to the area in 2019 from northern New Hampshire and originally come from Arizona. God has been incredibly faithful as he has transitioned us into the Central Pennsylvania area. My husband and I have two beautiful daughters. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have moved my family here where we will be able to have our own children attend Harrisburg Christian School with opportunity to grow their faith each day while receiving an excellent education.
I am passionate about my role as an educator and a disciple and the role they both play in the lives of the students and faculty at HCS. I am honored to be working with an incredible team of dedicated educators in a community where Christ comes first as we strive to inspire our students to pursue a lifelong love for Jesus Christ as well as growing in their own faith and in His service to others.
Kayla Collins MA. Ed.
Middle and high school PRINCIPAL
I am so excited to be serving students in my position of principal of the Middle and High School at Harrisburg Christian School. Both my professional and faith backgrounds have come together to give me a variety of experiences that I believe will serve our families as we work with our middle and high schoolers to sharpen minds, deepen faith and develop their gifts. My hope is that our middle schoolers grow academically and in their faith and that our high schoolers take advantage of our opportunities to go into the world ready to serve God’s purpose for their lives.
I am Harrisburg born and raised, having grown up in the area and graduated from Susquehanna Township High School. After high school, I attended and graduated from Penn State University with an undergraduate degree in English and then moved to the northern Virginia area where I obtained my Masters in Education. I taught in Fairfax County and Loudon County Public Schools as well as a private K-8 school. In 2008, we relocated to Lewisburg PA, where I taught at a variety of places including Greenwood Friends School and Meadowbrook Christian School. I began working for an online school company writing and reviewing curriculum for a variety of levels. In 2017, we moved back to the Harrisburg area and I took a job teaching at Commonwealth Charter Academy. While at CCA, I served in a variety of leadership positions and pursued my principal’s certification through Penn State University. I am so excited to use my experiences from these various positions to serve our families here at HCS.
I live in Susquehanna Township with my husband Ed, and our 4 children who range from high school to preschool age. Our family is excited to join the CSAGH community. I have a great passion to work with middle and high schoolers as well as our devoted faculty to serve God and help our students reach their potential.
