Great God, Great School, Great Start!

Starting the Race…

is our class of 2027! This wonderful group of youngsters just completed their Kindergarten year and celebrated their accomplishments with a program entitled, “I Am a Promise” by Bill and Gloria Gaither. The play is based on Jeremiah 29:11 which states, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declared the LORD. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and a future.” The entire evening revolved around the many things these young children learned in school this year: discovering a life of obedience, the possibilities before them in Christ. His promise for their future…

The evening concluded with a reception hosted by HCS’ First Grade parents. On display at the reception were pictures of the Kindergartners holding signs of what they would like to be when they grow up. The reception was a beautiful illustration of transformation into a new creation when one accepts Christ as Savior. Our class of 2027 has started the race well.

Running the Race…

Literally and figuratively as the HCS Track Team ran away with victories in both the Boys’ and Girls’ CCAC Track Championships. An all-time high of eleven HCS athletes competed in the PIAA District 3 Track Championships and garnered a total of nine medals: Senior Matt Barninger – 2nd place 800m; Junior Maachi Clark – 1st place Triple Jump, 3rd place High Jump, 8th place Long Jump; Senior Kalina Jenkins – 8th place 100m Hurdles; senior Nicole Leonzo – 1st place 200m, 1st place 400m, 2nd place 100m; and Sophomore Zach Schack – 6th place Discus.

Additionally, three members of the HCS Track and Field Team qualified for the PIAA State Championships. Nicole Leonzo became the 2015 PIAA State Silver Medalist, finishing 2nd in 400m with a time of 57:01! Nicole has received a Liberty University Track Scholarship and will be attending Liberty to study Kinesiology. Matt Barninger and Maachi Clark also qualified and competed in the PIAA State Track & Field Championships. Matt competed in the 800 preliminaries. He will be attending East Stroudsburg University as an English major. Maachi competed in the Triple Jump and finished 10th.

Congratulations to all for an incredible job!
